Program Strategy

ASSET & W's programmatic goal is inspired by Heifer International's approach to addressing poverty and hunger in rural communities through financial resilience. To achieve this, a variety of interventions, including livestock-based sustainable livelihood programs, backyard poultry, kitchen gardens, integrated agricultural systems, and natural farming, as well as a few other initiatives, are used. This not only helps people get out of poverty and vulnerability but also allows them to build significant social capital in their communities.

For mobilizing and organizing communities, enhancing the ability of new and existing associations, networks, and self-help groups, and solving their development difficulties, ASSET & W endorses the Value-Based Holistic Community Development (VBHCD) methodology.

The total net income required to live a dignified life- a life with adequate nutritious food, access to resources, education, healthcare, and money set aside for emergencies – is referred to as living income. Our mission is to assist families in closing the income gap between poverty and living income, which needs farmers to increase their revenue through market engagement. We engage with farmers and their communities to map out income-generating potential across agricultural value chains, as well as build values-based partnerships with governments, institutions, and businesses that are committed to long-term change

Our projects aim to increase income and assets, provide year-round access to nutritious food, promote agricultural practices that have a low negative environmental impact, provide women with the training and resources they need to become leaders, and allow communities to form networks and relationships with one another to become more cohesive.

Working in line with 10 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which recognize that eradicating poverty and other forms of deprivation requires initiatives that promote health and education, reduce inequality, and stimulate economic growth. At the grassroots level, the 12 Cornerstones for Just and Sustainable Development serve to establish a strong sense of social capital.

The COVID-19 pandemic that broke out, causing significant changes in our operating mechanisms, virtual mediums were used to keep in touch with the teams, as well as virtual training sessions, to keep the projects on track to meet their goals. As soon as the country's pandemic situation eased, operations were moved to the field.

To accelerate partnership this year to create more avenues of change for the communities while increasing our reach. We are hopeful that the new projects and partnerships will boost impact. We also seek to bridge gaps and strengthen ties between public and private sector stakeholders. Adoption of creative solutions aids us in meeting these objectives.
