Adharshila for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation & Welfare (ASSET & W) is a not-for-profit organization established in India as the national brand sharing Cooperating Affiliate of Heifer International. They have a shared mission to end hunger and poverty while caring for the Earth. Heifer International’s vision for India is translated into action and actualized through ASSET & W.
One is of alleviating poverty and hunger through Livestock Based Sustainable Livelihood approaches. Another is building strong social capital at the community level.
We aim to increase overall household income by making women count as earning family members. This leads to greater women empowerment.

We partner with institutions and stakeholders at multiple levels to build an ecosystem that fosters scaling of community-based enterprises and generates sustainable and equitable returns to the producers and small holder farmers.
ASSET & W was registered in January 2014, and it has implemented programs in the states of Sikkim and Rajasthan. We are presently running projects in Bihar and Jharkhand.

Programmatic interventions include Improved Animal and Resource Management practices, fodder strategy development, development of cadres of front-line community entrepreneurs, development of family level and CBO level business plans, building of strong social capital etc.
All these are focused towards sustainably improving incomes of households. The approach also focusses strongly on family level nutrition and environmental best practices.

ASSET & W was registered in January 2014, and its programs are spread across the states of Jharkhand and Bihar. Earlier, we have implemented projects in Delhi NCR, Rajasthan, Sikkim and Uttar Pradesh.
